What does it take to create
an HD4000?
First we started out with a total redesign of the Class D input section.
We gave the amp a 150 volt rail as opposed to our standard 80 volt rail.
But, simply raising the rail voltage is not enough. The switching of the
power supply had to be adjusted as well as the protection circuit and transformer
ratios. The output section also needed to be beefed up with higher voltage/amperage
MOSFETS to handle the substantial increase in power.
The results:
4000 watts of Pure Sine Wave POWER from only 13.8 volts of battery power
and an Efficiency of 76% at full power! This level of efficiency is a HUGE
factor because many of the street classes limit the amount of batteries
you can have or add to your system.
Big power in a single chassis! You don’t need to
“stack” amplifiers to get the power you need. The
HD4000 measures only 13 Inches in length; not much bigger than a sheet of
paper…
Absolutely the smallest
amplifier on the market producing 4,000 Wrms at 13.8 Volts.
