XX Super D Class

Hifonics “Super D” tm class is utilized in our top of the line Generation XX amplifier Series and in our large power Brutus series. Relying on an enhanced chip set featuring higher current capacity and better D/A conversion, Hifonics Super D provides a lower distortion level at high listening levels and possesses a greater efficiency rating than analog and lesser D-Class designs.

Plus, once you go above 1500 Watts in a D-Class configuration, a D-Class chip set becomes exponentially more exacting and expensive. That's why you'll see an increase in price and value in our bigger D-Class models.

Power or Sound Quality?

Power is everything. You know it, your friends know it, and most importantly, those who don't have Hifonics know it. But what about sound quality? Generation XX does that too!

If you need sound quality with high power our A/B class of amplifiers, Chaos, Jupiter and Olympus are the finest to use. If you want brute strength our monster Super D-Class (Zeus, Hercules and Colossus) will rip your head off (sonically and accurately of course).

What's Inside Counts!

The Generation XX amplifier series is the crème de le crème of high-powered amplifiers. You will notice the massive number of bipolar audio power devices and MOSFETs in the switching power supplies, extra large power transformers, and audiophile grade components on the military grade printed circuit boards.

Generation XX Highlights

The frequency control allows you to manipulate the HP (High Pass) and LP/BP (Low Pass/ Band Pass). The bandpass section is formed by the Low Pass and Subsonic Filter settings. You will notice that the Generation XX utilizes a multiplier switch for "X 1" or "X 10". This multiplying switch is to be used when making the HPF (High Pass) "X 1" adjustment 40 Hz to 4000 Hz. The "X 10" should be used when adjusting the LP or BP adjustment.

Balanced Line Input – Hifonics offers this feature on all Generation XX amplifiers. Used in conjunction with our XX BLD (Balanced Line Driver), this provides a step-up in input voltage from 0.4 volts to 18 volts. This option ensures total compatibility and allows the user for a nominal fee to add extra output to the amplifier much like adding a nitrous system to your car.

When Gen XX amplifiers are linked together you may run all channels from one set of crossovers in the master/slave mode. This feature allows you to bridge two amplifiers to one subwoofer. Phase Shift is an extraordinary feature that allows you to adjust the speakers so the music you hear is centered and equal to both ears. Phase shift allows you to adjust the speakers so that your ears are the center point, thus the music sounds equal to both ears. In addition, phase shift can eliminate phase distortion which can occur when components used for the soundstage and the woofers do not present music coherently to the listener due to the vehicles' acoustical properties or less than ideal installation locations.

Bass Boost control sets the amount of bass boost up to +18 dB, at the desired center frequency. Q Control sets the bandwidth of the range of frequencies affected by the Boost setting.

The variable subsonic filter is fully operational between 10 Hz and 150 Hz on all Generation XX Class A/B Class amplifiers and between 10 Hz and 50 Hz on all Generation XX D-Class amplifiers.
